More About Botswana Safaris

The Okavango Delta – a listed UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a “must see” for anyone interested in experiencing the best of Botswana. While the Delta’s water levels can change dramatically through the seasons, one can experience the Okavango Delta from water and land based activities ensuring you immerse yourself in the intricacies of this fascinating region. Enjoy a boating safari through the myriad of channels or slow down on a mokoro (dugout canoe) to take in the delta scenery in near silence. Guided game drives and bush walks will have you marvelling at the diversity of wildlife that inhabits the Okavango Delta.

A large portion of the Okavango Delta is protected by the Moremi Game Reserve – a reserve established by a local community in 1963 in a bid to protect the beauty of the Okavango Delta from excessive hunting. Surrounding Moremi is a variety of Private Concessions offering a more exclusive and private luxury safari. Whether you choose to visit Moremi or one of the neighbouring concessions, the Okavango Delta is guaranteed to take your breath away.

North of the Okavango Delta, the Chobe National Park and surrounding concessions including the Linyanti and Selinda offer exceptional game viewing opportunities. These wildlife rich regions focus on big game sightings from the infamous Savute Marsh Pride to the impressive elephant herds along the Chobe and Linyanti Rivers.

South of the Okavango Delta, the dry Kalahari Desert offers a complete contrast from the wetter northern regions of the country. The Central Kalahari Game Reserve and Makgadikgadi Pans National Park are home to an impressive variety of desert adapted species including oryx, eland, springbok, and of course the renowned black-maned lions. Botswana’s secret zebra migration across the salt and onto the Boteti River is a site to behold in the dry conditions, and is guaranteed to leave a lasting impression on your African safari.

With so many incredible regions to be explored, Botswana is best experienced in a multi-day safari package using a combination of destinations and luxury safari lodges. Owing to the remote locations of the lodges, access by road is limited and extremely challenging. A Fly-In Safari is the best way to experience a combination of regions and also an excellent way to get an aerial understanding of the intricacies of Botswana’s wide-open spaces.

Combining the right camps and wildlife regions at the correct time of the year is essential for a successful safari. This can be a daunting task when planning your once in a life time Africa vacation As experts in Botswana safari’s, Diana and the rest of the team at Hospitality Afrika Safaris are ready to assist you with planning an intricate and highly personalized safaris through this incredible destination.
